Head of Global Automation Competence Center (GACC) takes responsibility for CoE focusing on operational improvements and excellence including Robotic Process Automation, Chatbot/Voicebot, Machine Translation, Intelligent OCR, and others. Defines strategies and drives appropriate adoption of technologies worldwide across the organization. This involves satisfying business needs and utilizing the necessary skills and resources, within agreed parameters of cost, timescales, and quality. Provides a significant impact on the increase of efficiency within DB Schenker by the automation of processes.

Key tasks & responsibilities

Functional:
  • The team leader of the globally distributed Automation team (located in India, Germany, and Poland)
  • Proper setup of the Automation Competence Center and awareness bringing to all business units and drive of transition towards the new structure
  • Act as a single point of contact for all the Automation ideas and demands
  • Responsible for the pipeline and implementation of all Global Internal Digitalization and Technology initiatives and cross-functional requests for different Business units
  • Following and promoting the IT&D and Business Unit Strategy 
  • Organizing and provisioning of the 3rd level support
  • Maintaining and keeping existing integrations up-to-date, esp. continuous adaption to 
  • state-of-the-art technical solutions and standards
  • Continuous efficiency and quality improvement, incl. contribution to platform stability initiatives
  • Ensure various automation practices work in sync for value generation
  • Analysis and optimization of GACC processes
  • Building of a proper reporting structure (dashboards) for projects/support together with a communication and change management plan
  • Bring an intrapreneur mentality for all prototyping initiatives and show flexibility on changing demands and strategy 

Disciplinary:
  • Team construction, recruiting, management, coordination, and communication from a disciplinary perspective
  • Daily people management of the team and staff motivation being able to resolve any conflictual situations
  • Being able to properly set priorities and also delegate with flexibility and agility to manage a volatile environment. Inform of any resource gap in the team
  • Ensure proper onboarding of new employees
  • Support and cooperate with functional managers in setting a training plan, capacity management, and target agreements and review for the team. 
  • Support Management and functional managers in budget planning and realization
  • Represent Global IT Functional Management in front of the Management
  • Identify and lead process improvements
  • Liaison with global IT security and Data protection standards to comply with local requirements, security, and IT policies 
  • Evaluate and select third-party services or products in the IT area to enhance working efficiency and better support end-users.
  • Strictly follow and comply with all the rules and regulations on DB Schenker Compliance Guideline
  • Several years of relevant work experience as team leader, project management, business analysis/requirements engineering, specification and verification 
  • Experience with various automation technologies like RPA, Chatbots, OCR, etc., and the setup and operation of an appropriate organization and framework
  • Ideally, experience with Kofax / Kapow
  • Experience in identifying process improvements and beneficial usage of technologies
  • Strong business and system acumen
  • Good understanding of project and application life cycles
  • Strong customer service orientation
  • Strong self-initiative and excellent analytical skills
  • Fluency in written and spoken English
